The Planning Authority have advised that it is likely that any planning application to develop the site would need to be consulted with Sport England due to the site previously being used as a sports facility. The Council as landowner has subsequently contacted Sport England and they have confirmed that in the circumstances they do not need to be consulted as part of any planning process due to the sports court closing several years ago and there being alternative nearby sports facilities. As the land remains designated as Greenspace in the Local Plan Policy GS1 is applicable and compensation for loss of Greenspace may be payable. Due to the site being overlooked on three sides any scheme would need to be suitably designed to protect the privacy of future occupants.
